Working Supervisor (Joinery Background)

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting a Working Site Supervisor with a joinery background on behalf of a a long‑established regional main contractor in the North East to support the delivery of Commercial & Retail, Education, Healthcare, Historic & Heritage Restoration, Industrial & Warehousing, Residential & Social Housing projects across the North East region. Known for their collaborative approach and high standards, our client deliver a mix of traditional, framework and design & build schemes ranging from £100k to £5m. The Role You’ll take a hands‑on supervisory role, leading small teams on site while ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll support the Site/Project Manager with day‑to‑day coordination, quality checks, H&S compliance and programme delivery, while still carrying out joinery tasks where required. Key Responsibilities * Supervising trades and subcontractors on live projects * Carrying out joinery work while leading by example * Ensuring H&S compliance, site documentation and toolbox talks * Supporting daily planning, sequencing and programme targets * Quality inspections, snagging and maintaining workmanship standards * Coordinating materials, deliveries and site logistics * Liaising with clients, tenants and stakeholders in a professional manner What We’re Looking For * Strong joinery background (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) * Experience in refurbishment, small works, housing or commercial projects * Ability to supervise multi‑trade teams while remaining hands‑on * Good understanding of H&S and site compliance * Strong communication and problem‑solving skills Qualifications * SSSTS * CSCS Gold or Black Card * First Aid * Full UK driving licence What’s on Offer * Stable pipeline of local North East projects * Supportive SME environment with genuine progression opportunities * Autonomy, trust and the ability to make a real impact * Competitive salary, vehicle and benefits package Remuneration £42,000 - £50,000 DOE + van and fuel card This is a permanent position and Elvet Recruitment Limited will be acting as an employment agency for permanent recruitment on behalf of our client.
